SeeSpace InAiR: The World’s 1st Augmented Television

SeeSpace InAiR turns your TV into a Minority Report-like experience, with layers of Web content, inline with the programs you’re watching.

Last year I invested in an exciting new product on Kickstarter, which I believe it will completely change the way we watch TV along with a second screen.

One of the hottest technologies being taken from science fiction these days is augmented content.

With SeeSpace InAiR, content goes beyond entertainment and enhancement, truly engaging people as they’re watching television.

Are you getting curious yet? Keep on reading!

So what is InAiR?

With InAir plugged in, your TV becomes an Augmented Television.

You can turn any ordinary television into a new and wonderful medium, filled with rich and dynamic information from the Web.

InAiR uses your TV screen and layers in additional content from the Web and social media.

InAir works with any standard television. And InAir works with any 3D TV.

When activated in 3D mode, the layers of Internet content appear to be positioned in front of the screen and can be dynamically manipulated by the viewer.

These foreground layers of information appear to be holograms, and floating “in air” (and this is where the name came from).

The following Kickstarter promo video will allow you to get a glimpse of the 3D vision of the product, where the interface and content appears in layers in front of the screen.

Can you imagine what this means for watching the news, movies, documentaries and for example sports?

Imagine watching the Formula 1:

Or watching The Discovery Channel:

While watching documentary programming, many of us like to have access to more information.

This example shows the possibilities of projecting 3D models into the room to navigate and explore.

It also demonstrates the way InAiR can access open web information such as Wikipedia and other relevant sites on the Internet.

And if you’re a James Bond fan:

Sure! In this example, InAiR has found links to information about Skyfall, soundtracks and artists, and also special information about a Jaguar appearing as a product placement in the film.

Viewers can also navigate feeds from their favorite social networks.

For more examples see the InAir YouTube channel.

InAir content can be navigated by phone or by hand gestures when paired for example with Kinect or Leap Motion.

My Opinion

As mentioned before: I believe it will completely change the way we watch TV.

Combine that with the fact that 3D-televisions are getting down in price rapidly.

In addition, people are really starting to get hooked techniques like on augmented content technology.

The InAir project was was successfully funded on March 8th this year.

I’m looking forward receiving my inAir this September!
