adidas Originals and Sid Lee did it again. Together they made this remake of the Star Wars cantina scene for their current World Cup ad campaign. As with a lot of the adidas videos this one features many celebrities, like Snoop Dogg, Noel Gallagher, Ciara, David Beckham, Ian Brown and more. The video got over 2.7 million views on YouTube since last Friday.
2. Mortal Kombat
Last Monday this Mortal Kombat video appeared on YouTube, and nobody actually knew what is was for… A new game? A new film? As later turned out it is for a film. Actress Jeri Ryan, who plays in the piece, tweets: “Okay, so… Mortal Kombat. It’s not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film.” The video, directed by Kevin Tancharoen, got over 2.5 million views since last Monday.
3. Guillaume Nery: Base Jumping
Don’t hold your breath during this video, unless you’re Julie Gautier or Guillaume Nery. These two free-divers wanted to make a link between free-diving and base-jumping during a free-diving completion at Dean’s Blue Hole (second deepest blue hole in the world). The result is a short movie that emphasizes on aesthetic images and innovative camera moves or in short breathtaking good. The video was first uploaded on 30 May and it is viewed over 2.5 million times since.
4. Insoutenable: Sécurité Routière
The biggest priority of the French Sécurité Routière is young people drinking and driving. They have created an extremely realistic (and graphic) video to raise awareness to this subject and to warn young drivers about driving drunk. Three story lines are intertwined: one is about the girl and boy who arrive at the destination safely; one shows the tragic accident the other kids get into. The last one tells about a mother who learns her son has not survived an accident she didn’t even know he was in. The video has been viewed almost 1.5 million times since last week.
5. Inspired By Iceland
Say Iceland and you immediately think volcano. Or ash. Or banks. And that is why Iceland kicked off a global campaign “Inspired By Iceland” saying that “Iceland is more alive than ever, bursting with energy, activity and hospitality.” The campaign is supported by a on-line viral video showing us all of Iceland’s beautiful scenery along with the catchy song “Jungle Drum” by Emilíana Torrini. The video was uploaded nine days ago and got over 900,000 views. If you weren’t already inspired, you should check out their website. I am sure all you want to do is pack your bags and go. I know I do!
