Viral Friday is the weekly viral video chart of ViralBlog, showing the 5 most popular viral videos, commercials, games or user-generated videos, carefully selected and ranked by popularity, viral impact & spread.

ViralFriday

Do you want to see this week’s list from 1 to 5? Go on then, and have a look! We’d like to hear your opinion about the virals. Have fun!

1. Chatroulette Piano Ode To Merton

Last week ‘Merton’ got the #2 spot in Viral Friday with his Chatroulette piano improv. Unfortunately YouTube deleted his video when it had just over 4 million views (he re-upped it though with some changes). This week Ben Folds paid homage to Merton by doing a piano improv live before an audience of 2,000. Since last Saturday over 2 million watched the Ode to Merton. Now for the big question: Are Merton and Ben Folds the same person?

2. Content-Aware Fill Sneak Peek

The Adobe Photoshop team released this video last Tuesday. The video shows a technology for synthesizing texture Adobe calls “content-aware fill”. And as the vid demonstrates it will make removing elements from images a lot easier. Rumors are this feature will be available in the next release, Creative Suit 5, scheduled on April 12th. Meanwhile almost 1.2 million watched the video in the past three days.

3. Predators Trailer

This summer a new part in the science fiction horror film franchise Predator series will be launched, aptly called Predators. It all started in 1987 when the Governator faced the first Predator in the jungle. After that episode followed Predator 2, Alien vs Predator, Aliens vs Predator: Requiem and now the 5th sequel; Predators. Buzz about this film is increasing with over 800,000 views alone for this trailer in just over one week.

4. Opera Mini 5 On The iPhone

On March 23rd, Opera submitted Opera Mini for iPhone to the Apple App store: a browser that could replace the standard Safari browser. To show its features, Opera released a 2 minute video previewing the app and including a speed test: Opera vs Safari. We all know how protective Apple may be, given the rejection of a Google App last year. Guess when Opera Mini will be approved by Apple and the closest guess wins a brand new iPhone. In just three days the video got over 421,000 views on YouTube and the competition got over 2,500 retweets and 4,259 shares on Facebook.

5. Have A Break?

Environmental organization Greenpeace released quite a gruesome video. In it we see a guy in serious need for a break at work. When he opens his Kit Kat, it turns out there is not a bar of chocolate inside but an orang-utan’s finger. This video is directed against Kit Kat producing company Nestlé. According to Greenpeace’s report Nestlé takes palm oil from Sinar Mas, an Indonesian palm oil production company that proposes a threat to orang-utans by chopping the woods in their habitat. The video has been viewed 316,000 times in 9 days.
