The Whole Netherlands Salutes André Kuipers
The Netherlands salutes André Kuipers, currently orbiting Earth at some 350 kilometers above ground. To show the appreciation, Samsung Mobile in collaboration with ESA and commissioned street artist Notasso to create a work of art for André.
Notasso came up with something huge, so huge that it will even be visible from space…
Just like in the previous campaign, Notasso will be creating colorful portraits, based on Facebook photographs, and turn them into one huge work of art. To do something in return for the stunning photographs Andre Kuipers shares with us via Twitter on an almost daily basis, we call on the entire Dutch population to contribute.
An enormous work of art
At the end of May, the huge canvas, composed of thousands of portraits, the size of two fields, will be unrolled. André Kuipers’s mega portrait will not only be visible from space but will also be discernible to anyone traveling by plane since it will be strategically exhibited in a field next to Schiphol Airport.
A salute to André Kuipers if ever there was one!
Sequel to the success
To mark the launch of its Galaxy Note at the end of last year, Samsung Mobile rolled out the “Who is Notasso” campaign, introducing the up-and-coming’ Spanish street artist. More than 50,000 Dutch people had Assonant create a colorful portrait on the basis of one of their (Facebook) photographs. It was obvious that a sequel to this particular success story would only be a matter of time.
Taking it one step further
In imitation of the Samsung Galaxy Note, which is so much more than just a smart-phone or tablet, Notasso too will go the extra mile this time and create a message for André Kuipers by combining all the personal portraits in his colorful street-art style via a Facebook application.
Wondering how the picture will look when done?
