2010 Fifa World Cup: 3 Must See Videos

After months, and for some even years, of anticipation the countdown has started: only five days until the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

The World Cup does not only engage millions of football fans worldwide, but has also kept brands busy. More and more brands are jumping on the World Cup bandwagon. Some do it well, others not so much. But here is a top 3 of Must See Videos:

1. Nike – Write The Future

Nike may have possibly created the best football video ever made. The video is created by Wieden + Kennedy, together with Nike. I don’t want to go in to detail too much, but the video really is, in one word, brilliant:

The description that comes with the video is almost as impressive:

The time has come for players to carve their name in history. One touch, tackle or free kick could crush a nation’s hopes or cause them to build a statue in your honour. Drogba, Rooney and Ronaldo are ready to Write The Future. Write yours at www.nike.com/nikefootball/

2. Optus Secret Training Camp

Optus, an Australian telecom company, released a rather cool video where we can see the Australia national team training with the ‘big guys’.

The animals where shot on location in South Africa and the athletes in a studio in Australia. The spot was created by M&C Saatchi and directed by Paranoid US, according to which ‘post-production was a two month full-scale effort. With animals, a night time setting, a child actor and soccer celebrities, it was no easy feat to get the final result’.

3. BBC World Cup 2010 Spot [official video]

Last, but not least; BBC called in the help of Digital Kitchen, Red Bee productions and Y&R London to deliver an intense video promoting the BBC broadcast of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa:

The video illustrates South Africa’s heritage, the rainbow of colours of the competing countries and the emotions of the fans, players and nations. A fine piece of art.
