Tinker*Mobile: Mobile Photography & Influencers
Influencers and photography are a match made in heaven. Tinker Street*, a so-called ‘picture agency’ based in New York, recently founded Tinker*Mobile: linking mobile photography to influencer marketing.
But where can one find the best mobile photographers out there? Of course, Instagram. Tinker*Mobile has been stocking up on a few of Instagram’s finest users.
It comes as no surprise that Tinker*Mobile’s co-founder, Michael O’Neal, is an avid Instagrammer himself. Just like the founders of The Mobile Media Lab before him he, with friend and co-founder Jesse Miller, saw an opportunity in connecting influential Instagrammers with brands.
With Tinker Mobile, Instagrammers such as Theron Humphrey, Tim Landis, Chris Ozer, and others, have been doing some interesting projects. The most interesting one to me is the Take The Wheel campaign, with Mercedes-Benz.
Five influencers are literally taking the wheel of an all new Mercedes-Benz CLA, roadtripping for five days. They each take photos. The Instagrammer who receives the most likes in those five days, gets to keep the car.
Less influential ‘grammers also get a chance to make a roadtrip and win a car, by using one’s Instagram feed as a digital portfolio. Does your feed best match the lifestyle the CLA represents? You win!
Tinker*Mobile can be called a talent agency, putting the Instagrammers in the spotlight first and foremost. More and more agencies like this are coming up, illustrating that Instagram’s influencer marketing is bigger than ever before.
I love Instagram. No doubt about it. With Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram, influencer marketing is becoming more and more mainstream, and encouraged, on the platform. Tinker*Mobile was formed by a wellknown and influential Instagrammer, which makes it an agency that knows how Instagrammers think and work.
The Take The Wheel campaign with Mercedes-Benz is exciting and fun. It’s not just made up of a contest, it’s an adventure for five great Instagrammers, and you can relive it through their photos. I do think that they should have given more ‘regular’ Instagrammers the opportunity to also participate in the trip.
