The runner up spot is for Victoria’s Secret Commercial By Michael Bay. Bay, known for his action packed movies, probably thought making an action packed ad for Victoria’s Secret would be the next step. Man Drinking Fat completes this week’s top 3. This video is just disgusting. Which is exactly the point.

1. Christmas Light Hero

What do you get when you mix a Christmas Light show with Guitar Hero? Yes, Christmas Light Hero! Ric Turner, a former Disney ‘imagineer’ and special effects specialist, turned his yard into a game of Guitar Hero, built out of 21,268 lights and LEDs, that plays Eric Johnson’sCliffs of Dover“. The result is amazing and so is the impact of the video. Within 8 days the video got over 1,4 million views on YouTube.

2. Victoria’s Secret Commercial By Michael Bay

Because Michael Bay is known for his action packed movies, he probably thought making an action packed ad for Victoria’s Secret would be the next step. The video was already featured on ViralBlog this week. On various different blogs people are not very positive about Michael Bay and his work and while they’re at it they also take it out on the models for being too thin. But let’s just enjoy this video for what it is: a mini-movie with beautiful women and cool explosions.

3. Man Drinking Fat

This video is just disgusting. Which is exactly the point. The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is aiming for people to think about their sugar consumption. Based on a survey the NYC Health Department found that more than 2 million New Yorkers drink at least one sugar-sweetened soda a day. Just one 20-ounce bottle of soda can pack 250 calories and more than 16 teaspoons of sugar. The message is pretty clear: Don’t drink yourself fat. Try water. It’s good. The video generated more than 390,000 views within four days on YouTube alone.

4. Extreme Gaming With An Epson Projector

To promote their EH-TW450 projector Epson created the Extreme Gamer. So if you are into HD gaming, strap an EH-TW450 an a PS3 to your chest and you’ll be playing games everywhere; on walls, streets, and people in the centre of London. Epson uploaded the video to YouTube last week and already got over 400,000 views.

5. Toyota Yaris – Clean Getaways

Saatchi & Saatchi Australia called upon the help of ‘clever film makers‘ to create a new ad for the Toyota Yaris. The instructions? “Your short film must feature a Toyota Yaris, be about a Toyota Yaris, or reference a Toyota Yaris, visually, verbally or otherwise”. Toyota is getting a lot of attention with this video as some find it offensive (other find it just funny). Discussions like that mostly only contribute to the viral spread. The video got almost 330,000 views since last weekend.

    The Toyota Yaris is a nice case study of what happens to your brand when you hire a traditional agency to do a job that should be done by specialists.

    It was a comlete balls up and whilst it’s spreading like wildfire I doubt they are happy with the free publicity they are picking up.

    It’s the same as my story yesterday about the babysitter – just because something spreads viraly and attracts a lot of views does not make it a successful campaign.
