Viral Friday: Don’t Vote
Viral Friday is the weekly viral video chart of ViralBlog, showing the 5 most popular viral videos, commercials or user-generated videos, carefully selected and ranked by popularity, viral impact & spread.
This weeks Viral Friday #1 position goes to Google: 5 Friends. Roughly 1 in 4 Americans still aren’t registered to vote. That is why Google brought several actors together to make a public service announcement video. The runner up spot is for Homer Simpson who Tries To Vote For Obama. The November 2 (just two days before the election) episode of the Simpsons will include this clip of Homer casting his vote. Search Engine Rap Battle completes this week’s top 3. The battle is on between Microsoft, Yahoo and Google MCs. There are three separate battles: MSN vs Google, Google vs Yahoo, and MSN vs Yahoo.
Do you want to see this week’s list from 1 to 5? Go on then, and have a look! We’d like to hear your opinion about the virals. Have fun!
1. Google: 5 Friends
Political participation is at an all-time high this election season, and a record number of voters have already started to cast ballots. But roughly 1 in 4 Americans still aren’t registered to vote, according to the most recent Census report. Google brought several actors together to make a public service announcement video encouraging young Americans to register to vote while there’s still time. On this special “vote version” of Google Maps you can fill in your address and find out exactly where, when and how to register. The video, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, will.i.am, Tobey Maguire, Forrest Whitaker and a bunch of other celebs, aired just three days ago and over 580.000 people have seen it up to this moment. 2. Homer Simpson Tries To Vote For Obama
Homer Simpson obviously saw this week’s #1 video and is going to vote. The November 2 (just two days before the election) episode of the Simpsons will include the above clip of Homer casting his vote for John McCain then changing his mind and attempting to vote for Barack Obama numerous times to no avail. Each Obama vote that Homer casts is registered as another vote for McCain. When Homer finally accuses the voting machine of being rigged… The video aired on September 29th and already has over 550.000 YouTube views. (Source: NewsBusters)

5. Sensoa
The above video promotes the new Belgian website www.allesoversex.be (all about sex) from Sensoa, a Belgian service center for sexual health care and HIV. The website was launched on September 17th.
