Viral Friday: Shaheen Jafargholi’s Got Talent
Viral Friday is the weekly viral video chart of ViralBlog, showing the 5 most popular viral videos, commercials, games or user-generated videos, carefully selected and ranked by popularity, viral impact & spread.
This weeks Viral Friday #1 position goes to Britain’s Got Talent: Shaheen Jafargholi. Those of you who thought the Britain’s Got Talent mania would be over by now are wrong! Last Saturday a 12-year-old got on stage with just as much talent as Susan; Shaheen Jafargholi. The runner up spot is for Disgusting Dominos People. We all know the stories; eat at a fast food restaurant and you get nasty things in your burger. I always thought these were just stories, but now I’ve seen the Domino’s video… Burger King SpongeBob Squarepants completes this week’s top 3. The King is selling kids’ meals with a SpongeBob related remix of Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back”.
Do you want to see this week’s list from 1 to 5? Go on then, and have a look! We’d like to hear your opinion about the virals. Have fun!
1. Britain’s Got Talent: Shaheen Jafargholi
Everyone that didn’t know the talent show Britain’s Got Talent now does thanks to Susan Boyle (by now her video has over 100 million views). Those of you who thought the Britain’s Got Talent mania would be over by now are wrong! Last Saturday a 12-year-old got on stage with just as much talent as Susan; Shaheen Jafargholi. He chose to sing Valerie by The Zutons until 15 seconds into his audition Simon Cowell raised his hand and told the kid he had got his performance “really wrong”. When Cowell asked if he could sing another song he replied calmly: “I can also sing Who’s Loving You by Michael Jackson…”. His performance got over 6 million views since last Saturday on YouTube and Dailymotion combined.

2. Disgusting Dominos People
We all know the stories; eat at a fast food restaurant and you get nasty things in your burger. Until now I always thought these were just stories, but Domino’s (largest pizza delivery chain) workers Kristy Lynn Hammonds, 31, and Michael Anthony Setzer, 32 made the above video of themselves putting gross things into sandwiches. The video generated over 1.5 million views in just a few days and caused a real PR nightmare. Patrick Doyle, the president of Domino’s U.S.A., responded to video of the (now former) Domino’s team members with this YouTube video. In the video Doyle goes on to apologize for the incident, assures customers that the Conover, N.C. restaurant where the videos were filmed is being sanitized and describes the steps his company is taking to ensure such an incident doesn’t happen again.

3. Burger King SpongeBob Squarepants
To advertise its kids’ meals Burger King and CP+B teamed up with SpongeBob. Burger King is selling the meals with a SpongeBob related remix of Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back“. In the latest commercial from their bizarre ad campaign, the King sings about his love for square butts, and his desire to “get with” SpongeBob while ladies shake their booties. Although the video got over 600,000 views since it aired April 6th, will it really make young mothers buy more kids’ meals?
4. YouTube HD Camera Trick Challenge
To promote their new Omnia HD phone Samsung challenges the viewers of the video to guess how they did it. “This clip was shot on an I8910 HD phone, a new camera phone just released by Samsung with an 8 megapixel camera that can actually record and output video in HD format. It was shot in one take, with no post production or special effects of any kind. Everything you see here was done “in-camera”. Our challenge to you is to figure out how we did it.” Unfortunately for Samsung an internet user solved the mystery in less than 10 days, quickly interrupting Samsung’s buzz. The commercial got almost 580,000 YouTube views in 2.5 weeks.
5. Flutter: The New Twitter
Microblogging on Twitter is hot, if you don’t have a Twitter account you will miss the boat and drown… That’s how it goes with hypes. But is microblogging really that cool? How about nanoblogging? Flutter is the new Twitter; only 26 characters instead of 140, so less chances for irrelevant information and mistakes. The Flutter video got almost 540,000 views on YouTube since April 3rd, 3,357 ratings, 2,184 comments and over 3,500 favorites. Flutter is not the only Twitter alternative; check out S-s-stutter!
