Vodafone Loves Beavers

Once again Vodafone have been plagued by an employee with a peculiar sense of a humour. Late last year one of the Vodafone guys in Hungary got the boot because of a cheeky Twitter message at the expense of T-Mobile.

This time the Twitter post was not quite as clever and ever more so immature. Yesterday afternoon many of the thousands of followers of the VodafoneUK Twitter account were surprised by the revelation that “VodafoneUK is fed up of dirty homo’s and is going after beaver’

In The Guardian a Vodafone spokesperson was quoted saying “An individual posted an obscene remark on the Vodafone UK Twitter account. The individual has been suspended pending further notice.”

You have to feel sympathy for a brand that has been heralded as one of the best practices when it comes to using Twitter for customer service. Instead of heading for Friday drinkies, the reps were now stuck sending out hundreds of messages to surprised followers.

Whilst it is tough to slate the brand for a freak incident, it does beg the question if they have their internal policies and security in order.
