Mobile Usage Across The Globe
Everybody has a mobile phone. The position of the phone in our lives is becoming more important by the year. Every year, new type of phones are launched onto the market. In the beginning, size and weight were key reasons for us to buy. Nowadays we judge phones by it’s additional possibilities. Does it have a camera? Can I connect to the internet? And how fast is my connection? Can I download app’s? How big is the memory card? Can I check my email?
The amount of new functions and possibilities have great influence on our behaviour. But how do we use our mobile? The following infographic gives great insights on our mobile behavior across the globe.
It comes as no surprise that Japanese users are the most connected. Their behaviour also gives us a small look into the future. Sending text messages is still a very popular among Europeans, but looking at the amount of Japanese users that sent emails with a phone, this function will propably be extinct in a couple of years.
Looking at the social networks used, one has to conclude that Twitter is doing a great job and Facebook and YouTube need to step up their game in order to conquer the Japanese market.
Since the mobile phone is becoming more and more nested in our lives, the importance of location based services is growing immensly. It is my opinion that Japan is the market to look at for the first success cases.
