Twitter Hits 20 Billionth Tweet
Last Saturday at 1544 GMT the 20 billionth tweet was posted on Twitter by Japanese graphic designer and twitterer GGGGGGo_Lets_Go. This milestone came sooner than expected. It took 4 years to reach the first 10 billionth and it doubled in less then five months! In March the amount of tweets each day was 50 million, now it’s 80 million.
It’s not surprisingly that the tweet was Japanese since they send nearly 8m tweets a day, about 12% of the global total and second only to the US, according to the San Fransisco-based micro-blogging service. Do you want to tweets the 30 billionth tweet? Then I suggest you bookmark Gigatweet cause then you might have a chance And if you want to know more about the meteoric rise of Twitter have a look at the infographic after the jump.
