How Social Media Chews Back At Luis Suarez

Yes, he did it again: Uruguay star Luis Suarez has bitten an opponent. But this time World Cup fans bite back… on social media.

So what happened?

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez appeared to bite Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini in his country’s final group game at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Moments after the bite, social media exploded with all kinds of creative newsjackings.

Here are the best ones:

Some bransds also tapped into the biting meme:

Besides these amazing memes also some games were released around the biting incident. Such as this one from Ducth agency Achtung!: The Biteman game

And definitely check out this one as well: The Luis Suarez Biting Game by

My Opinion?

I mentioned it before: I Love the World Cup! And not only for the sports area, but also for what it does with social media.
In terms of Facebook statistics, Google search trends and newsjackings.

And when it comes to newsjackings,I find it remarkable that the best ones aren’t coming from brands, but from the audience.

Looking forward to another 2 weeks of this social media World Cup!

By the way: I think Suarez is as much as crazy as he’s a brilliant football player!

What About You?
Can ask you what you thin about these newsjackings and memes, but I think I already know the answer. So therefore: What do you think of Luis Suarez? A winner or a loser?
