Viral Friday is the weekly viral video chart of ViralBlog, showing the 5 most popular viral videos, commercials, games or user-generated videos, carefully selected and ranked by popularity, viral impact & spread.
ViralFriday

This week’s Viral Friday #1 position goes to Coca-Cola: Happiness Machine. To spread their Happiness message Coca-Cola put a special vending machine in the middle of a college campus. The runner up spot is for adidas Originals: Star Wars Collection. This week adidas launched a new compelling video which is a real joy for David Beckham lovers, Snoop Doggy Dogsters, and mainly for the adidas brand fans and Star Wars diehards. Nexus One: Ninja’s Unboxing completes this week’s top 3. Google released this video of a Nexus One being unboxed. By ninja’s.

Do you want to see this week’s list from 1 to 5? Go on then, and have a look! We’d like to hear your opinion about the virals. Have fun!

Get our ViralBlog asset: the Viral Friday Widget! By default the widget shows you the latest Viral Friday, but it’ll also show you the seven most recent postings on ViralBlog.

1. Coca-Cola: Happiness Machine

To spread their Happiness message Coca-Cola put a special vending machine in the middle of a college campus. The Coke machine was transformed into a happiness machine delivering “doses” of happiness. As Igor already wrote last Tuesday, the interactive campaign was created by marketing agency Definition 6 from Atlanta, US. The video reached viral spread in a matter of days; since 12 January the video has been viewed by almost 870,000 people on YouTube alone. Expecially the Russians seem to like this vid, the YouTube “honours” list shows the video reached the #2 spot of most viewed videos in Russia this week.

2. adidas Originals: Star Wars Collection

This week adidas launched a new compelling video which is a real joy for David Beckham lovers, Snoop Doggy Dogsters, and mainly for the adidas brand fans and Star Wars diehards. The video officially launches the new adidas Star Wars collection. Besides the video, adidas also invites us to experience the Facebook application on the adidas site. The video got over 650,000 views since last week.

3. Nexus One: Ninja’s Unboxing

Google released this video of a Nexus One being unboxed. After all, when it comes to “unboxing”, ninjas know how to handle things. The video is sponsored by Google, but was actually made by Patrick Boivin, a French Canadian “autodidact director”. The video resulted in almost 550,000 views within 4 days.

4. AIDES: Graffiti (NSFW)

This video may be percieved as Not Safe For Work. AIDES, a French community-based non-profit organisation dedicated to fighting HIV/AIDS, called upon TBWA\ Paris to create the above ‘viral’ video, showing why guys should always wear protective gear. At Creativity Online the video is placed in the TVC category, implying the vid will actually be shown on TV in France. We really support this, because it’s a great video that will have many people talking about the AIDS subject. Around 600,000 people watched the video on YouTube alone. The exact number of viewers is hard to tell because of the over 20 duplicates of the video (and that’s only on YouTube).

5. Nolan’s Cheddar

This brave mouse can’t resist the smell of Nolan’s Cheddar…and faces the consequences. The video has over 395.000 views on YouTube alone and was created by British film director John Nolan, who has also worked on “Where The Wild Things Are”. Cheese lovers who were searching for this strong cheddar are in for a disappointment: Nolan’s cheddar is not a real brand. Nolan used a trained mouse for the beginning of the video and a dead one for the end. Fainthearted people beware, this was actually a robot device with the dead mouse’s skin over it.
