1. Scarface School Play

Kids performing in a school play is usually cute. But this one goes beyond what you’ve ever seen. In this video we see the final scene of Scarface played by a group of elementary school children. The guy behind the video is Marc Klasfeld, director of videos for Lady Gaga and Jay-Z among others. Klasfeld says he was surprised about the strong reactions to the video given the fact that children are exposed to all sorts of dirty content on TV. The video has over 2 million views on YouTube since last Monday.

2. adidas: The Street Where Originality Lives

Sid Lee and Nima Nourizadeh are back with this video for the adidas Originals Spring/Summer 2010 Neighbourhood campaign, entitled “The Street Where Originality Lives”. The music in the video is the Pilooski remix from Dee Edwards – ‘Why Can’t There Be Love’. Lots of celebrities have cameos in the ad like Snoop Dogg, Agyness Deyn, David Beckham, Ciara, DJ Neil Armstrong, Oasis and Mr. Hudson and the list just goes on like that. The video has been viewed 1,167,453 times since March 15 on the adidas Originals channel on YouTube.

3. Remi Gaillard: Butterfly

Remi Gaillard is not new to Viral Friday: the Frenchmen, who turned pranking into a living, has a great number of fans at YouTube. His videos have a combined number of view of over 300 million and his latest video is no exception to his on-line success. The video ‘Butterfly’ got almost 1 million views in just two weeks. The title kind of gives it away, but Gaillard dresses up as a butterfly and surprises people in the most bizarre situations. We would except nothing less!

4. Specsavers: The Specs Effect

Based on this 2006 Lynx spot (called ‘Billions’) Specsavers Creative teamed up with director Daniel Kleinman in an attempt to overpower the famous effect. Specsavers Creative is the UK’s most respected in-house advertising department, with awards and nominations from the likes of Cannes Lion, D&AD, BTAA and Epica. This ad got almost 600,000 views since Specsavers placed it in their YouTube channel on March 15.

5. Qualcomm: Butterfly Swarm Attacks Man

Last Monday the above footage from a savage butterfly attack was uploaded to YouTube and by now almost 500,000 people saw the video (and there also was a second attack). Two days later chip manufacturer Qualcomm held an emergency press conference to reveal that the two attacks took place after the guys had stolen two mirasol display prototypes from a Qualcomm lab. Together the videos got almost 600,000 views since last Monday. Read more on this extensive April Fools’ Day prank at Mashable.
