Viral Friday is the weekly viral video chart of ViralBlog, showing the 5 12 most popular viral videos, commercials, games or user-generated videos, carefully selected and ranked by popularity, viral impact & spread.
The year is really coming to an end and on this last Friday of 2009 we look back at all virals we have written about in our weekly ViralFriday. We have made our own selection of the best viral per month. Not only the number of views but also impact, awareness, coolness and all sorts of elements were taken into consideration to create this list of 12 best virals.
We have seen many good virals and also a lot of ‘not so good’ ones. Either way, we believe the power of viral videos is enormous and can be entertaining, fun, impressive and even some times learning you new things. We hope you like this top 12 virals of 2009.

This week’s Viral Friday #1 position goes to Christmas Light Hero. What do you get when you mix a Christmas Light show with Guitar Hero? Yes, Christmas Light Hero! The runner up spot is for Victoria’s Secret Commercial By Michael Bay. Bay, known for his action packed movies, probably thought making an action packed ad for Victoria’s Secret would be the next step. Man Drinking Fat completes this week’s top 3. This video is just disgusting. Which is exactly the point.

Besides the new search option Google Goggles, Google has shared its new concept for real-time search as well.

This week’s Viral Friday #1 position goes to Pink Glove Dance. Promoting awareness of breast cancer is a good thing, this week you’ll see hospital staff dancing with rubber gloves. The runner up spot is for Lady Gaga: Bad Romance Parody. Lady Gaga is extremely hot this week. Video charts are flushed with parodies of her Bad Romance video (her original video got almost 30 million views in three weeks). Lego Matrix Trinity Help completes this week’s top 3. It takes about 440 hours to make, but then you have a splendid piece of video material of 44 seconds…

Their ode to Freddy Mercury reached one million viewers the same day it was uploaded and went viral around the world in just two days. The runner up spot is for What Is Google Chrome OS?. Google released the source code to Chrome OS accompanied by a series of videos explaining the operating system. World Of Warcraft: Mr. T Commercial completes this week’s top 3. Yet another World of Warcraft commercial starring Mr. T gets WoW fans crazy for the Mohawk Grenade.

Pigeon: Impossible completes this week’s top 3. After nearly 5 years, writer and director Lucas Martell is finally done with this first attempt at animation.

This week’s Viral Friday #1 position goes to Elizabeth Lambert. Fist throwing football player Elizabeth Lambert is the number 1 of Viral Friday’s top 5. The different videos showing her mean actions towards the opponent players all add up to more than 10,2 million views. The runner up spot is for Andre Iguodala Trick Shot. Trick shot videos are a guarantee for lots of views and comments. And although we have seen many of these videos, they’re always interesting to watch and see if you can figure out if it’s real or fake. Remi Gaillard: Tarzan completes this week’s top 3. We have seen him before in Viral Friday: the French Remi Gaillard, professional prankster.

At ViralBlog we are very impressed with the viral videos Ken Block and his team manage to produce; the successful videos promoting Ken, DC Shoes, Subaru, Monster and his other sponsors just keep on coming. The runner up spot is for Google Maps Navigation. Google’s Android is booming, and now Google introduces its own, free, turn-by-turn mobile navigation software. Motorola DROID: Stealth Commercial completes this week’s top 3. Ever since Motorola released its DROID phone through its Droid Does campaign, there has been a lot of buzz about the Google Android 2.0 based smartphone.

This week’s Viral Friday #1 position goes to U2 On YouTube. Last Sunday U2 streamed their concert from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena live to YouTube. The runner up spot is for Grocery Store Musical. The people from Improv Everywhere did it again: they caused a scene. This time six undercover actors burst into song in a grocery store in Queens. Assassin’s Creed – Lineage (Part 1) completes this week’s top 3. Next month Assassin’s Creed II will launch, so Ubisoft released the first part (out of three) of the very impressive Assassin’s Creed Lineage films.
